MISSION

OASA's mission is to champion and advance the growth and development of NewSpace within the Greater Bay Area (GBA), Hong Kong, by fostering education, innovation, collaboration, grounded practices, and entrepreneurship in the space industry. VISION

Our vision is to establish the Greater Bay Area as a globally recognised hub for NewSpace activities and excellence — where cutting-edge technologies, groundbreaking research, commercial opportunities and sustainable space initiatives converge. We envision a future where space exploration and utilisation drive further economic growth, inspire scientific advancements, and nurture a vibrant ecosystem of space-related industries. We believe that Hong Kong can and will become a hub for space commerce activities by 2030; and before that is to happen, OASA will have prepared an army of young leaders and explorers for NewSpace.

7. Youth Development

Because the future belongs to the bold, the adventurers, and the explorers of tomorrow. Everything we do is for them.

Value

"Just Launch It"

Inspired by Nike's iconic slogan "Just Do It," our key message, "Just Launch It," encapsulates our ethos of action, determination, and embracing opportunities in the NewSpace sector. It encourages individuals, startups, and organisations to overcome obstacles, take calculated risks, and pursue their ambitions in space exploration and utilisation. "Just Launch It" represents our unwavering belief in the power of taking that first step and the transformative impact it can have on the Greater Bay Area's NewSpace industry. Learn to fail fast.  Get up.  Try again.

"Be Space Ready!"

Inspired by the late Sir David, the message here for Hong Kong is to get ready, since the new NewSpace economy has already arrived. This implies one has to find a way and a vehicle to get ready. That vehicle is OASA and working with OASA in creating paths for NewSpace. By promoting the message of "Be Space Ready," OASA aims to foster a community that is knowledgeable, empowered, and ready to explore, utilise, and contribute to the exciting possibilities of the NewSpace industry.

Sir David Akers Jones (DAJ) has committed his life to the development of Hong Kong and the welfare of the poor since 1957. His achievements have been beyond just leading the Government and supporting the Governor of Hong Kong when he was Chief Secretary. Sir has been continually active in community works and has been instrumental in leading the development of Hong Kong in new towns like New Shatin, Discovery Bay, or the opening up of Hung Hom Cross Harbour Tunnel among others. He was there during the 1967 riot and found ways to bridge the many divides, including establishing the District Councils. He has started many new social enterprises such as Wuzhiqiao, Outward Bound, Invotech, the Business and Professionals Federation among many.

Because the world of space is developing rapidly around the world, the Board needs global experts and advisors to help members of the Board understand the latest development and implications arising from the discovery and application of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. At least three dozen experienced space experts have been advising the Academy since its establishment.
